AREA 47 SPLASHDIVING™ WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP 2010 – Junior Competition
Athletes between 10 and 17 years may take part at the Junior competition. Additionally they must produce the “Competitor’s Agreement” (signed by their legal guardian).

Rounds and degrees of difficulty:
Singles:
In the preliminaries the athletes present their jumps in 3 rounds. In the finals the 12 finalists present their jumps in 4 rounds.

Synchronous:
The athletes present their jumps in 3 rounds.

The first jump of each heat is “limited”, meaning that the degree of difficulty is limited to 4.5. Twists and somersaults may not be shown during the limited jump. All following jumps are unlimited. The athlete can chose his degree of difficulty.

Alcohol and drug controls:
The rules of SPLASHDIVING™ INTERNATIONAL are based on the German Constitution.
Alcohol is forbidden for all athletes prior to a competition, along with a total ban of illegal drugs.

Alcohol and drugs compromise safety!

On Saturday all athletes will have a routine check-up before the competitions.
.

SPLASHDIVING™ INTERNATIONAL insists on information being given by the trainers concerning athletes who are known for the consumption of alcohol or drugs.

The independent doctor will be arranged by SPLASHDIVING INTERNATIONAL. The doctor will be obliged to report these athletes to the competition committee. They will then exclude those athletes with a negative result from further training and competition with immediate effect, regardless of connections or popularity.

If a finalist is disqualified on Sunday, the next available contestant from the final qualification moves up to be a finalist.

Further to the ban in this competition SPLASHDIVING INTERNATIONAL has the right to extend the ban of participation in 2010!

The police of Nuremberg are aware of the competition and could even carry out searches at the camp site.

Competition Jury:
1 head referee + 6 judges
The six judges will evaluate the jumps from 0 to 10.
The head referee intervenes in the competition, if unclear situations develop or if the rules were broken.
The decision of the head referee is to be accepted by the athletes and the 6 judges. The head referee can use video recordings before a decision is made.
If the splashdown of an athlete is wrong or unclear, the judges rate normally. But the head referee can take two points from each judge or can give the athlete zero points.
If further problems occur or cannot be solved the competition committee is to be called in.

Results Collection Point:
At the results collection point all scores will be electronically recorded and calculated.

Call-up of the athlete:
During the competition all participants have to be at the base of the dive boards, in order to streamline the event. Each diver is called up by the moderator in each round and his dive is announced. The signal to jump is the sound of a whistle blown by the head referee. Then the athlete has two minutes time to complete his dive. If the announced dive is not implemented within the two minutes, no points are given.

Order of dress:
At least one pair of swimming shorts must be worn.
More than two pairs of shorts are not allowed. Additional padding under the shorts is forbidden. Neoprene shorts under the bermuda shorts is permitted. Just before the competition the divers will be checked.

We recommend to use a mouth guard.
Jewelry is not to be worn because of the risk of injury.

Safety rules and regulations:
The middle safety rails of the 10 meter platform will be removed which facilitates dives with a running entry.

Each splashdown must be at least one metre away from the point of take off (edge of the dive board) and at least 1.5 metres from the edge of the pool. Otherwise no points are given!

The description of the dives is to be followed and obeyed.

Safety recommendations:

The dives which are to be demonstrated at the competition should have been previously trained from lower heights. The athletes’ physical and technical capabilities should always be considered to avoid unnecessary risks.

The list of jumps will be examined by all coaches and the competition committee. During training they will watch the divers and if necessary withdraw them, if they appear to exceed their limits, for their own safety.

In Addition:
If a participant intentionally pulls his shorts down before, during or after the competition he/she will be disqualified! In this case the competition committee can impose a ban for the next world championship.
